I use Neosporin on acne that I extracted, picked, or popped. (I know it's bad habit!) I began to notice that acne does not heal as quickly now that I'm an adult versus my teens days. When I was in my teens I was able to do all kinds of horrible stuff to my skin and I had youth on my side. The story is so not the case now. I have been noticing for the past year that my acne is taking forever to heal and the affected area sometimes takes over 6 months to completely heal. If the area becomes red and the pimple seems to have gotten bigger; first bumpy and then red for months. This is because instead of the removing acne I actually case an infection. So pimple and the surrounding area is now red, bumpy and painful. Acne is annoying and stressful; we know what we are not suppose to do, but just can't help it.
I have discovered by applying Neosporin on the pimple after extraction helps. I continue to apply Neosporin twice a day once in the morning and night after I cleanse my face until it has healed. Neosporin dramatically decreased the time it will take for the affected area to heal and scaring is less noticeable. It is not a miracle product because you will see scarring just less visible.
Why I think Neosporin works?
Since Neosporin is an antibiotic ointment it will help disinfect the area so there won't be further irritation or infection. In addition Neosporin has been clinically proven to help wounds and scabs heal quicker and minimize the appearance of scars.
We really shouldn't extract acne ourselves, but for those who are like me and can't help it Neosporin is my acne rescue.
